Head of Access Services --  State University of New York College at
Oneonta -- New York
 
State University of New York College at OneontaHEAD OF ACCESS SERVICES
(SENIOR ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN/ASSOCIATE LIBRARIAN)Milne Library at SUNY
College at Oneonta seeks a creative leader to manage Access Services. This
is a 12-month, tenure-track position with salary commensurate with
experience and qualifications. Planned start date: June 1, 2007.
Responsibilities: Provides leadership and coordination for the operations
of the Access Services Unit (circulation, print and online reserves, stack
maintenance, and interlibrary loan/document delivery). Coordinates the work
of a circulation department of four clericals and an interlibrary loan
department of two clericals. Oversees participation in consortial resource
sharing programs. A priority for this position is the planning for and
development of policies, procedures, and models for the organization and
operation of access services in light of new and emerging technologies and
services. Responsible for ongoing team development and enhancement of an
excellent service culture. Also participates actively in reference,
including some nights and weekends, and collection development activities.
Opportunity for library instruction. Qualifications Required: Master's
degree from an ALA-accredited program; demonstrated experience in project
management; successful supervision of personnel in a library setting;
professional experience in access services; experience with print and
electronic reference sources; evidence of excellent communication skills.
Preferred: Demonstrated experience in online systems for circulation,
reserves, and interlibrary loan, e.g. ALEPH, ERes, and Illiad; experience
providing reference service and library instruction in an academic
setting; one year of experience supervising clerical/support staff;
demonstrated fluency with current and emerging library technology;
familiarity with copyright law as applicable to academic libraries. For
