Technology Services Librarian --  American University of Sharjah -- United
Arab Emirates
 


Technology Services Librarian

An exceptional international opportunity awaits an innovative and
knowledgeable librarian eager to take a lead role in overseeing the
administration of an integrated library system and managing library
technology projects at the American University of Sharjah, United Arab
Emirates (near Dubai). The successful candidate will administer existing
products and provide leadership in planning, implementing and evaluating
technology-focused library services such as enhanced search platforms,
digitization projects and the use of emerging technologies to meet
strategic goals. 
Responsibilities include: 
· Supervising technology staff to ensure performance and
maintenance of equipment, software and systems, including RFID, EZproxy
and interlibrary loan software
· Overseeing the administrative functions of the library's ILS,
Innovative Interfaces' Millennium
· Implementing and managing library technology projects 
· Overseeing the administrative functions of the library's
integrated library system, Millennium
· Ensuring that library systems and services support student
learning goals
· Exploring and developing new tools and resources in support of
the library's strategic vision 
· Collaborating with the university's Information Technology
Department 
Qualifications
An ALA-accredited MLS degree with minimum of 3 years experience; 2 years
experience administering an ILS, preferably Innovative Interfaces'
Millennium; in-depth understanding of technological trends and
developments in academic libraries; knowledge of operating systems in both
server and desktop environments. 
The AUS Library, located in a stunning new state-of-the-art facility,
features a large Information Commons, 20 group study rooms, 2 computer
