The Management & Economics Library is embarking on a major physical and functional renovation to become a valuable center of business information serving the University's initiatives. In support of this goal, the Business Reference Librarian will create a close working relationship between the Libraries and students and faculty within the School of Management, the Agricultural Economics Department, and other schools and departments in the areas of collection and information resource development, reference and information literacy instruction, and interdisciplinary research initiatives. Responsibilities: Provide reference service in the Management & Economics Library and participate in the Management & Economics Library's and the Libraries' system-wide digital reference service. Develop and present specialized classes and workshops that incorporate complex, rapidly evolving informational technologies as well as traditional methods. Collaborate with other Library faculty and staff to develop print and technology-based instruction materials. Coordinate with the resource development librarian in selecting and acquiring management related resources and databases. Participates in the planning activities of the Management & Economics Library. Reports to Head Librarian, Management & Economics Library. Rank of Visiting Professor.Requirements: Master's degree in Library Science (ALA accredited or equivalent). Knowledge of and/or experience in business librarianship. Experience conducting library presentations or teaching in an academic environment. Enthusiasm for new methods of disseminating information. Demonstrated interest in the application of current and emerging technologies to meet the changing needs of users. Strong service orientation. Demonstrated commitment to user instruction and to consultation with users on their information management needs. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students. Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic environment and on a variety of simultaneous projects.Desired: 1-2 years of academic library experience. Demonstrated ability and experience in using business-related bibliographic resources. Familiar with current issues and trends in library technology and business information resources.Salary: $41,000 and up, depending on qualifications.Status and Benefits: 3-year temporary position. Rank of Visiting Professor. Twelve-month appointment with annual vacation of 22 working days. Excellent benefits including fully paid TIAA-CREF retirement contribution. The Management and Economics Library is the primary information center for the Krannert School of Management and the Department of Agricultural Economics in the School of Agriculture and also serves the University at large.
