You'll find a special subscription offer at http://chronicle.com/4free/?ej _________________________________________________________________ - The text of the job listing is below - Director, Information Commons -- Loyola University Chicago -- Illinois Loyola University Chicago University Libraries POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT March 2007 Director, Information Commons Loyola University Chicago seeks an enthusiastic, service-oriented librarian to provide leadership for an exciting new facility, the Information Commons (IC). A partnership with Information Technology Services (ITS), the IC will provide 24-hour reference assistance with a full range of technology equipment and services aimed at undergraduates. A primary objective is to more closely integrate library and technology services with Loyola's curriculum while meeting IC program goals of collaboration, connectivity, and community. The IC Director is a library department head who supervises four staff and numerous student assistants, and works with the Head of Reference and ITS to plan programs and services and manages daily operations. Evening and weekend hours are expected. Position available: July 1, 2007. Salary: $70,000 Qualifications: Required: an ALA-accredited M.L.S.; library technology experience and expertise; knowledge of the use of technology in a University environment; supervisory experience; excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; a strong team-oriented attitude; and knowledge and understanding of the Information Commons philosophy and concept. Desirable: a second masters in computer science or related field; Web authoring skills; experience with photo, video and/or audio editing; reference experience.
