The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) invites applications for the position of Cataloging and Metadata Librarian, job #266, a faculty appointment with rank leading to tenure. The successful candidate will provide leadership and expertise in all issues relating to the cataloging of electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats. Minimum salary of $35K-37K for a 12-month appointment. This position reports to the Head of Cataloging. Position responsibilities are as follows: Create original and complex copy cataloging records following national standards and local practices for the cataloging of electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats; collaborate with staff to develop policies and procedures for handling metadata and to maximize patron access to electronic resources and other materials; participate in database maintenance and quality control for all bibliographic and authority records in the database; serve as liaison to vendors and obtain records for import/export; train Cataloging and Archives staff in cataloging procedures for electronic resources, archival materials, and other special formats. The following qualifications are required: ALA-accredited MLS degree; recent professional cataloging experience; demonstrated knowledge of current cataloging and archival rules and standards including AACR2rev, LCSH, MARC formats, EAD, and other metadata schema; awareness of current trends and developments in cataloging and metadata; experience with Innovative or other automated library systems. Must have excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work independently; and reading knowledge of one or more Western European languages.
