East Asian Librarian --  Rutgers University at New Brunswick -- New Jersey
 

Library: East Asian Librarian.  Rutgers University New Brunswick
campus Libraries seek an East Asian Librarian to provide public services
and instruction and to develop collections in Chinese, Japanese and Korean
languages, and English language materials on East Asia; in collaboration
with the Asian Languages Catalog Librarian will set workflow priorities;
the East Asian Librarian will coordinate cooperative agreements in related
language areas, including international agreements, and develop digital
initiatives appropriate for the community served; will cultivate donors in
support of the East Asian Library. This is a tenure-track appointment, and
research/publication and participation in national/international
professional organizations will be expected. A Master's degree in library
science from an ALA accredited institution or international equivalent is
required. A minimum of three years' experience in East Asian collection
development and reference are required. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills in English, as confirmed by references or interview
presentation, and oral and reading fluency in Chinese or Japanese are
required; reading knowledge of one other East Asian language is highly
desirable. Two years' experience using CJK software for bibliographic
searching is required. The successful candidate must be eligible to work
