These positions require a strong commitment to teaching, the use of technology and innovation in the delivery of instruction, and the ability to infuse new approaches into the teaching/learning process. Along with teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be involved in academic advising of students and College committees. These positions are nine month appointments that start in August 2007 unless stated otherwise. Rank and salary are commensurate with education experience. Bethel College is a private, liberal-arts college with an annual enrollment of approximately 2000 traditional and non-traditional students. The college is situated in McKenzie, Tennessee (a town of 5,400); Bethel is halfway between Memphis and Nashville (110 miles from each). Bethel College is the only college affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Bethel is chartered by the State of Tennessee and accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Theatre Technical Director: Bethel College is seeking candidates for the developing theatre program in this growing liberal arts college. Experience with set, lighting, sound, and costume design in academia preferred. Responsibilities include teaching design, stagecraft, and public speaking, as well as designing, supervising, and managing technical aspects for at least two main stage productions in the academic program. MFA is required. Music: Bethel College is seeking candidates in Music with a piano/music theory emphasis. The successful applicant will be well qualified to teach applied and class piano as well as music theory on the undergraduate level, to advise students, and to take an active role in recruiting music majors for the college. Ph.D. is required. Computer Science: Bethel College is seeking candidates in computer science. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in computer science or computer engineering, preferably with strength in programming. Teaching responsibilities could include classes in Pascal, C++, Fortran, and Data Structures, Numerical Methods, Discrete Math for Computer Science, Assembler and Operating Systems. Eighteen graduate semester hours in physics or mathematics and experience in IT or Web Design would be a plus. College teaching experience is desirable and a commitment to excellence in teaching and student mentoring is expected. Nursing: Bethel College is seeking candidates for two nursing positions. Specialties desired are Maternal-Child/Pediatric and Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. Desired qualifications include an earned doctorate in nursing; teaching experience in a professional nursing program; a master's degree from an accredited institution with focus in the nursing specialty area; and eligibility to obtain licensure as a RN in Tennessee are required. Responsibilities include classroom and clinical teaching with associated program development duties, academic advising of students, and participation in program and college committees. History: Bethel College is seeking candidates for a faculty position for surveys in American and World History and upper level courses in the candidate's field of specialization. The ability to teach upper-level classes in areas other than American and European History is a plus. The candidate must have a master's degree in history, but a Ph.D. is preferred. Psychology & Human Services: Bethel College is seeking candidates for a faculty position teaching in the Psychology and Human Services programs. This is a combined position with teaching in both programs required. Qualifications include an earned doctorate from an accredited institution in a behavioral sciences field. Psychology (Ph.D. or PSYD) is highly preferred along with a Master's Degree (or min. of 18 hours of graduate study) in a Human Services field (ex. Human Services, Social Work, Criminal Justice). M.S.S.W. (or Master's in Human Services) with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Psychology or Criminal Justice also considered. Prior teaching experience and/or field experience is considered a plus.
