Library Director --  Seabury-Western Theological Seminary -- Illinois
 

Library: Director of the United Library.  The United Library is the
combined library of Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (Episcopal Church
USA) and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (United Methodist
Church), located on the campus of Northwestern University, Evanston,
Illinois.  Responsibilities include: oversee all library operations,
including collection development, development / promotion of library
resources and services, instruction in research and bibliographic skills
for students and other library users, management of library budget,
coordination of information and instructional technology, and long-range
planning, including planning for space needs.  The Director is a member of
both seminary faculties and is expected to maintain relationships with both
institutions.  Candidates must possess, at a minimum, a master's degree
from an ALA-accredited program, an advanced degree in theology (at least a
master's, doctorate preferred), and significant management experience in an
academic library.  Preferred: experience in teaching research,
bibliographic and information-retrieval skills; understanding of
principles of collection development, with particular sensitivity to
United Methodist and Episcopal denominational materials; ability to
advocate for the library; strong administrative and supervisory skills;
ability to support and advocate for academic technology; ability to relate
to faculty, students, and administrators; active church life; grant-writing
