This is a full-time, 12-month, continuing appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, beginning July 1, 2007, or later. Under the general direction of the Associate Dean for Information Services, the HRI has supervisory responsibility for approximately 12 librarians and support staff; is expected to demonstrate leadership in the planning and delivery of a full range of reference and instructional services; oversees the development and implementation of both new and existing reference services, guiding program planning and assessment for both traditional and online reference services, as well as the library's program of instructional and liaison services; and formulates and implements departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate must possess the ability to promote teamwork and a commitment to provide customer service. Required Qualifications: ALA accredited Master's of Library Science. Minimum of five (5) years' professional experience in reference and library instruction in an academic library. Minimum of three (3) years' management and supervisory experience. Experience in the selection and evaluation of library resources, including print and electronic resources. Knowledge of current trends in scholarly communication, information technologies, and higher education. Proven success in planning, introducing, and managing change. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. For appointment at the Associate Professor rank: Record of peer-reviewed research and publication. For appointment at the Professor rank: Record of substantial peer-reviewed research and publications and record of professional service on a national level. Preferred Qualifications: Additional subject master's degree. Record of successful achievements in grant applications and awards.
