The successful candidate will have a combination of personal strengths that should include the vision and creativity to lead the Library in supporting the campus mission in a dynamic environment, a strong customer service orientation, community involvement, and an interest in technology. This is a 12-month faculty appointment beginning July 1, 2007, reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs.The Library contains approximately 240,000 government publications and provides access to over 600 electronic journals, databases and catalogs. Special purpose areas include the Calumet Regional Archives, the Northwest Indiana Center for Data and Analysis, and the Lake County Central Law Library. For more information about IUN and the Library, please visit our Web site at www.iun.edu.Minimum qualifications are Master's in Library Science degree from an American Library Association accredited program; experience as a librarian with non-administrative activities; five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in an academic library that included budgeting and personnel management; strong interpersonal skills, effective written and oral communication abilities and a commitment to collaborative decision-making; a record of scholarly and professional achievement that resulted in tenure at a comparable institution or successful completion of an equivalent process at the present or prior institution within the last five (5) years; and demonstrated experience with an advocacy for information technology. Preferred qualifications are ability to administer within a multi-campus environment; have a proven record of initiative and achievement in developing programs and services; and skills to work collaboratively with campus officials in external fund raising.
