Manages staff and professional librarians and assumes responsibility for decisions relative to library services. Formulates and revises policies and procedures to maintain effective library operations. *Directs development of library's collections; works with assigned departments and faculty to maintain a balanced collection; assists in the selection of Library materials in assigned areas through reading professional literature, selected journals, and other pertinent publications. *Manages library budgets to effectively meet the needs of a fast-changing library. *Responsible for all computer systems in library. *Oversees programs for in-service training and bibliographic instruction. *Reviews and approves final preparation of annual reports and participates in academic accreditation as needed. *Oversees library related instruction and assists other librarians in providing instruction and reference services. *Responsible for library as a physical facility *Chairs the Library Committee and works effectively with academic departments. *Supervises all library grant applications and administration. *Serves on campus and statewide committees. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: *Master's degree in library science required and five years of related experience. *Management experience in an academic library. *Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of library science. *Good knowledge of college administration, policies and procedures. *Considerable knowledge of budgeting in an academic environment and of college personnel policies and procedures. *Experience in submitting grant applications and administering grants. *Working knowledge of computer systems, including hardware and software, used in the library environment. *Conversant with current electronic library applications, including acquisitions and Internet services. *Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. *Ability to manage diverse staff, including providing regular feedback and evaluation. *Ability to effectively provide instruction to students, faculty, and other patrons, individually and in a group setting. *Ability to exercise critical human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with students, faculty, staff, other libraries, vendors, and the public. CONTRACT: Full time (12 month) tenure track faculty position. Salary is based on faculty salary schedule and dependent upon qualifications and experience. Excellent benefit package included.
