Under the direction of the Head, Technical Services and Collection Management, manages orders, renewals, binding, statistical reporting, invoicing, claiming activities, etcetera for library monographs and Serials in all formats using ExLibris Aleph500; supervises clerical staff and student employees; provides oversight of record loading from vendors; assists in the management of the unit. Provides management and oversight of order placement, renewals, binding and claiming activities including loading of bibliographic and order records supplied by library book vendors and OCLC's service. Performs copy cataloging of monographs and serials; manages contact with vendors in relation to ordering, claiming, report generation and record supply. Responsible for the analysis and implementation of ordering and claiming. Trains technical service and collection management staff in the use of the ExLibris Aleph500 serials and acquisitions module and other electronic acquisitions tools. Supervises other temporary and hourly staff as necessary. Some service at the reference desk as needed; serve as a liaison to specific academic departments with collection development, Web site content development, and library instruction. Evening and weekend work may be required. Qualifications: M.L.S. from ALA-accredited library school. An additional master¹s degree or a doctorate is required for appointment as an Assistant Professor. The college is seeking individuals with organizational and supervisory skills. Broad technical services background, or desire to learn this area of librarianship, strong service orientation and good analytic and problem-solving skills are desirable. An understanding of operations and concepts of academic library technical services and library automation is essential. Familiarity with library systems and computer hardware, software, and networks dedicated to library functions is desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are advantageous. Ability to meet the responsibilities and requirements of a tenure-track appointment, including research, publishing, and involvement in professional organizations.
