You'll find a special subscription offer at http://chronicle.com/4free/?ej _________________________________________________________________ - The text of the job listing is below - Information Systems Librarian -- University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point -- Wisconsin UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT UNIVERSITY LIBRARY Position #07-62F40 Position: Information Systems Librarian Position Description: The University Library seeks a creative and service-oriented Information Systems Librarian to manage, plan and administer the integrated library system, as well as implement and support federated search and link resolver (openURL) systems and other related electronic resources. The Information Systems Librarian provides leadership and training for library faculty and staff in technology initiatives and trends. This position works collaboratively with a technology team in installations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and training in the effective use of library automation and system modules. This position serves as the UWSP Library representative to campus technology service units, library automation vendors, UW System Libraries' committees, including the Library Automation Managers (LAM) group, and participates in statewide discussions and decisions impacting the UW System Libraries. The Information Systems Librarian also participates in the Library's instruction program, reference services, and collection development. As a tenure-track library faculty member, the Information Systems Librarian is active in scholarship and service. Department/University Description: The mission of the University Library is to provide users with information in support of teaching, student learning, scholarly activity and research, and curricular development. The University Library's collection houses over 400,000 books and periodicals, and the government publications collection contains over one million items. The Library utilizes technology to provide on-campus and remote access to its resources. The staff of the University Library also provides consultation and advisory services to groups and individuals, participates in classroom instruction, teaches formal classes in the use of information materials, and participates in professional and scholarly activities that enhance the mission of the University at the regional, national, and international levels. Founded in 1894 as a state normal school, the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a leading comprehensive regional university with more than 8,700 undergraduate and graduate students. The four academic colleges offer 95 program choices within 48 majors, plus 75 minors and 16 graduate programs. It has consistently been named one of the top public mid-western universities in U.S. News and World Report's college rankings. The 400-acre campus is near the Wisconsin River and includes a 275-acre nature preserve with a 24-acre lake. Qualifications: - ALA-accredited degree; MLS or equivalent. - Second master's (minimum) required for tenure. - Two years library automation experience in an academic library preferred. - Substantial knowledge of library automation systems, information technology and trends. - Diverse blend of professional abilities and interests, including technology, instruction, and reference. - Excellent organizational abilities, communication skills, and strong service orientation. - Work as part of a collegial team and with diverse populations. Appointment Date: Academic year appointment beginning August 22, 2007 Terms of Employment: Tenure track position with faculty rank (Rank and salary dependent upon experience and qualifications); academic year (9 month) appointment.
