POSITION: General
Reference Librarian
Assistant professor, full-time,
tenure-track, available November 2006.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Review of
application will begin immediately and continue until position is filled.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide
reference service to students, faculty and others from a central counter
(including evenings and weekends); user instruction; assistance with
traditional (print) and electronic resources such as the online catalog, and
web-based sources; online database searching; collection development (subject
responsibilities may be assigned based on academic background or interests);
and promoting library use skills to all groups of the University community.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: MLS or
equivalent degree from an ALA-accredited program: good oral and written
communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional reference experience in an automated academic library; research
and instructional skills; basic computer skills including e-mail, word
processing and web page design
SALARY: Competitive, based upon
education and experience, and with a minimum of $28,000.
