    Reference Librarian/Social Sciences    SUMMARY: Provides general and specialized research assistance for on-site and virtual library users. Participates in user-centered, subject specific instruction through general orientation sessions and course integrated instruction to develop information literacy competencies. Serves as coordinator for curriculum materials resources center, overseeing 2 FTE. This position will collaborate with other Librarians and teaching faculty and report to the Head of Information and Research Services. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: •Provides research assistance for on-site and virtual library users, including night and week-end rotations •Oversees the daily operations of the curriculum materials resource center and work of two FTE •Provides curriculum-integrated library instruction and outreach to faculty and students •Participates in collection development activities in all formats (print, media, digital) in the social sciences. Serves as liaison for academic program/departments in social sciences and in particular education, supporting the curriculum and research needs of the member institutions •Participates in the development, implementation, and assessment of services, policies, procedures, and publications •Develops instructional materials, research guides, web tutorials and other resources to optimize utilization and understanding of library resources and services •Participates in library-wide initiatives through committees and task forces 

QUALIFICATIONS: •Two to three years experience performing reference and instruction services in an academic library •Demonstrated knowledge of electronic resources in the social sciences related to an academic research environment •Demonstrated commitment to working in a culturally diverse environment •Familiarity with appropriate digital technologies •Evidence of scholarship and/or professional activity •Excellent oral and written communication skills •Excellent organizational and analytical skills 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: •Graduate degree in library science from an ALA accredited program required. Undergraduate or graduate degree in social sciences required; a degree in education preferred •Supervisory experience preferred •Grant writing experience desirable •Experience in public services in an academic library •Classroom teaching experience preferred •Experience in web page development preferred 

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience; benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, company paid disability plans, company match retirement plan (TIAA-CREF) annual leave of 24 days, 8 paid holidays and a two week holiday break during the month of December.
