GEORGE MASON UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES 
History, Public & International Affairs Liaison Librarian 

George Mason, a Carnegie Research University (High Research Activity), is
an innovative, entrepreneurial institution with national distinction in a
range of academic fields. Enrollment is 30,000, with students in 148
degree (including 25+ doctoral) programs. The Libraries are experiencing a
period of significant growth in funding, staffing and facilities, and are
identified in the University's long-range planning process as critical to
the University's expanding role as a research institution. 
We invite applications for an History, Public & International Affairs
Liaison Librarian based in the Fenwick Library. Academic responsibilities
include service to and collaboration with the Departments of History and
Public & International Affairs as well as undergraduate Conflict
Resolution within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. 
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS or ALA-recognized foreign
equivalent; undergraduate and/or graduate degree in subject fields
relevant to the position; significant academic research experience,
including reference, instruction, and collection development; experience
in developing working partnerships with academic departments; experience
developing and assessing service initiatives; wide exposure to relevant
databases, collections, and publishers/vendors; knowledge of the
scholarly communication issues facing academic libraries and the
humanities and social sciences; understanding of the information needs of
social scientists; experience working with datasets; demonstrated ability
to use technology for improved library services; excellent communication
skills, both oral and written; ability to work effectively with diverse
academic groups and a demonstrated commitment to responsive and quality
academic library services. 
Appointment and Benefits: 12-month Professional Faculty appointment.
