Comprehensive benefits. The Information Technology Division (ITD) of the University of Maryland Libraries invites applications for the position of ILS Systems Librarian. The UM Libraries' Information Technology Division (ITD) supports the automated library needs of the University of Maryland System and Affiliated institutions (USMAI). JOB SUMMARY: Working in a team environment, the successful candidate will assist with the ongoing support of the integrated library system (ILS) and other applications that support USMAI library services, install software, train staff in its use, and create written documentation. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide first line support for ILS, resolve problems identified via problem reporting software, document and communicate solutions. Work with second level support staff to resolve application software problems. Work with ILS vendor support staff to resolve problems, answer questions and communicate solutions. Work with member libraries to determine optimal workflow; and to configure the systems to support desired outcomes. Assist in the planning and coordination of activities related to ILS developments and upgrades. Develop and implement testing strategies related to system use and changes. Develop and conduct training workshops as needed, visit libraries as appropriate to fulfill assigned responsibilities. Share information with and make presentations to various USMAI groups. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent, experience supporting integrated library systems in one of the following areas: bibliographic data, circulation, Web OPAC. Experience providing customer service and technical support for an ILS. Experience developing and supporting library web-based services. Strong interpersonal/communication skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and planning skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team based environment.
