This position provides leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of Human Resources programs, systems, and services to effectively support the mission of the University Library for approximately 60 exempt, 100 non-exempt and union staff, and almost 200 student employees. The incumbent will partner with appropriate divisional and University staff with respect to staffing, planning, recruitment, employee & labor relations, retention, compensation, performance development & planning, learning & professional development, and organizational development to ensure effective support for the division. The position reports to the University Librarian. Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources or related field is required; an advanced degree in Library Science or a related field is preferred. Significant experience in the field of Human Resources which includes a range of expertise in the following areas: strategic planning, organizational development, recruitment and selection, compensation, employee relations, labor relations. Knowledge of the interrelationship and impact of EEO/AA, ADA, and FMLA on the process of recruitment, selection, supervision of exempt and non-exempt staff. Outstanding leadership, vision, and communication skills to influence the formulation of policies and practice and to effectuate strategic change with tact and diplomacy. Familiarity with employment law, labor law, and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Professional-level working experience in an academic library is highly desirable.
