Summary:
Performs copy cataloging, database maintenance, and other Technical
Services activities as necessary.
Responsibilities Include:
* Performs OCLC-member and complicated LC copy cataloging of
print and non-print materials; includes verifying name and series
headings and assigning classification numbers and subject headings to
bibliographic records as necessary.
* Updates and corrects other online data as necessary; may
include adds, withdrawals, substitutions, transfers, relinking item
data, inventory, retrospective conversion, and authorities
maintenance.
* Search and export bibliographic records from OCLC as
necessary.
* Perform other tasks as necessary; may include training student
assistants, performing pre-and post cataloging physical processing of
material, and assisting in other teams within the Technical Services
Department.
Required:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related library
or relevant work experience, including some related technical services
experience. Ability to pay close attention to detail; work with
online screen displays/small print, and physically move books and
booktrucks. Flexibility; ability to follow established procedures,
analyze problems, determine appropriate solutions, and offer
suggestions to enhance efficiency. Ability to communicate
effectively, in English, orally and in writing; ability to work
productively with diverse groups in an urban academic setting.
Fundamental computer and word processing skills.
Desired:
Cataloging, authority control, or database maintenance
experience; experience working with OCLC, SIRSI Unicorn, or another
online integrated library system.
Salary:
$24,000 per fiscal year

Summary: Responsible for a variety of tasks including maintenance of
subscriptions and standing orders and online receipt and check-in of
serials; supervises serials students.
Responsibilities:
* Communicate with vendors and/or publishers to claim standing
orders, microfilm not received, orders not renewed, incorrect start
dates
* Serve as primary student supervisor; hire and train student
assistants in check-in of regular print and microform
journals/newspapers; provide other task-specific training for student
assistants as necessary
* Utilize in-house, SIRSI, to perform minor cataloging duties;
such as modifying bibliographic records for ceased & canceled titles.
* Maintain problem mail shelf.
* Order supplies, type forms, maintain statistics.
* Participate in planning for serials policies and procedures.
* Perform other tasks as necessary; may include additional
serial responsibilities and/or assisting other teams within the
Technical Services Department.

LIBRARIAN / INSTRUCTOR
WEST BANK
QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited
university. At least three years experience working full-time in an academic
library with some supervisory experience. A strong commitment to public services
and library user education including experience in information literacy,
reference and collection development.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Librarian is responsible for maintaining and overseeing library services on
the West Bank Campus. Supervises library, paraprofessional and student workers.
Responsible for library acquisitions and collections development. Provides
reference services to library patrons using print, microfilm and online
resources. Schedules and conducts library tours and information literacy classes.
Maintains and updates library web site. Works towards cultivating a cooperative
relationship with academic departments on campus as well as with libraries at
other campuses. Serves on college and campus communities. May include some night
and weekend hours.
SALARY:
$29,000 - $38,000
