When Dan Barron retired to the mountains of North Carolina, he bragged
about the view from his porch of the house he built.  I think he was in
his rocker two days before becoming the interim director of the AMY
Regional Library.  They are looking for a new, permanent director.  I am
posting this as a favor to Dan.  Description is below.

Note:   The AMY Regional Library is located in the beautiful mountains
of Western North Carolina and serves over 50,000 people of the Toe River
Valley with 4 branch libraries, an outreach program, and bookmobile.

Salary: $45,000 to $50,000 depending upon background and experience. (An
assured pay raise of 5% following a satisfactory evaluation at the end
of 12 months.)

Qualifications: An ALA accredited MLS/MLIS degree or MLS degree from a
North Carolina regionally accredited library school is required. The
applicant must have North Carolina Public Library certification or be
eligible for certification before appointment. A minimum of 5 years of
responsible public library experience, 2 years of which must have been
at the supervisory or administrative level is required. The applicant
must provide their own transportation and maintain a NC driver's license
with good driving record.

Duties: The Library Director position requires a professional who has
the capacity and commitment to lead enthusiastically and manage a
regional library system. This includes planning, organizing, and
directing library services of 4 branch libraries and the regional
office. Duties will include establishing goals for library services,
capital campaign building programs, fund-raising, budget preparation and
justification, personnel and facilities management, technology planning,
collection development, and establishing administrative policies and
procedures. The Director reports to the governing Regional Library
Board.
