SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY

 

Library Faculty - G. B. Luhrs Elementary School Library

 

The Library Department seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant
Professor position, effective August 2007. 

 

Work schedule will correspond to the Elementary School calendar.
Discrepancy between the University and the School calendar will be
remunerated with a Summer School contract. 

 

Responsibilities:  1) In coordination with the Elementary School
Director and faculty, and the Shippensburg School District faculty,
coordination and development of a model elementary library media center
program, one that is at the core of the school curriculum and reflects
the goals and objectives of the Elementary School.  2) Participation in
the instruction of Elementary School and University students, faculty,
and administrators on the use of library services and resources.  3)
Service in the Library Department including teaching in the library's
instructional program, grant-writing, participating in outreach efforts,
conducting research, and collaborating closely with classroom faculty.  

 

Depending upon qualifications there is the possibility of occasional
teaching assignments in other departments. 

 

Requirements:  1) Weekend and evening work.  2)  An M.L.S. from an ALA
accredited institution with evidence of significant progress toward the
doctorate.  3) A doctorate in a relevant field from an accredited
institution is required for tenure.  4)  Ability to meet Pennsylvania
elementary teacher/librarian certification and pass the PA Act 34 and
Act 151 background clearance checks.  5) Evidence of a commitment to
understanding diverse populations and demonstration of teaching
effectiveness will be required as part of the on-campus interview.
