Film & Media Digital Archivist --  Washington University in St. Louis
-- Missouri
 

Washington University Library in St. Louis invite applications for the
position of Film & Media Digital Archivist.
The person in this position will assume management responsibilities for
digital activities in the film archive, including the preservation of new
digital materials. The archivist will coordinate  efforts to digitize
materials in the archive and assist in setting priorities, consistent with
policies on digital asset management and preservation as determined by
Digital Library Services (DLS). The archivist will work closely with DLS
to establish standards and best practices for preserving digital
materials.  The archivist will also lead efforts to make the archive's
digital materials available on line.  Position reports to the Special
Media Collections Archivist.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters Degree preferably in moving image archives, library & information
science, film studies, archival studies, or professional certificate in
archives, film archives or film preservation.  Experience working with
video, web sites, and other digital media strongly preferred. Knowledge of
digital formats.  Evidence of excellent written and oral communication
skills.  Ability to handle confidential materials.  Ability to organize
materials to achieve expected results.
Prior archival work experience preferred.  Experience with editing
software such as Final Cut Pro and online delivery preferred.  Knowledge
of African-American history and documentary film making preferred.
