Director of Burke Library --  Union Theological Seminary (a Columbia
University Affiliate) -- New York
 

Library Administration: Director Burke Library at Union Theological
Seminary. Columbia University invites nominations and applications for the
position of Director of the Burke Library at Union Theological Seminary,
one of the most important theological libraries in North America and part
of the Columbia University Library system. The Director leads and
administers Burke Library and guides the development of its collections
and services. The Director manages a materials budget of $250,000,  leads
a staff of eight permanent and grant-funded positions, and maintains
effective liaison with the administration, faculty and students of the
Seminary. The Director is a member of the Seminary's senior staff group
and of the Columbia Libraries' senior management group, and regularly
attends meetings of Union's  Faculty Academic Affairs Committee and the
Educational Policy Committee of the Board of Trustees of the  Seminary.
Reporting to the Deputy University Librarian, the successful candidate
will have: An understanding of theological education and the
literature of religious studies. Demonstrated ability to manage a library
and familiarity with academic research libraries. The ability to work
effectively with faculty and students. A commitment to continuing to build
Burke's collections. An understanding of the use of technology in
libraries. Experience in fund raising and grant writing. An accredited MLS
and an advanced degree in a relevant subject area or the equivalent
combination of education and experience.For more information/immediate
