The successful candidate will be directly involved in furthering FSU's standing among the best public research universities in the country and will be charged with undertaking an aggressive library expansion program that includes personnel, facilities, and innovative new services for students and faculty. The Director of University Libraries oversees a staff of 129, one-third of whom hold faculty appointments. With a budget approaching $13 million, the FSU Library includes four divisions: Administrative Services, Public Services, Collection Services, and Library Technology and Research. Of 10 facilities comprising the total library system, the Director has daily jurisdiction over six: the main Strozier Library, Science Library, and Engineering Reading Room on the Tallahassee campus; The Ringling Library in Sarasota; and facilities supporting campuses in Panama City, Florida, and the Republic of Panama. The Director, who sits on the university's council of deans, coordinates operations with personnel at the other four library facilities.An elite public university with 39,000+ students and a $900 million budget, FSU is known for a research-intensive academic environment, highly qualified faculty, and a diverse student population.
