POSITION DESCRIPTION.

 

OUTREACH MENTOR (.50 FTE)

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

A POSITION WITH STEP’S EMPOWERED FAMILIES= SUCCESSFUL KIDS PROJECT TO PROVIDE PARENT TRAINING ACTIVITIES AND TO WORK DIRECTLY WITH PARENTS AND UNDERSERVED PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES.  TO PROVIDE RECRUITMENT, SELECTION AND SUPERVISION OF THE VOLUNTEER WORKSHOP SPONSORS. THE JOB ENTAILS PROVIDING INFORMATION, TRAINING, AND SUPPORT TO PARENTS TO MEET THE PURPOSES OF THE PROJECT. THIS POSITION MAY BE JOB SHARED AS NEEDED.

 

II. JOB RELATIONSHIPS.

A.      RESPONSIBLE TO THE REGIONAL TRAINING COORDINATOR AND OUTREACH DIRECTOR.

B.      ASSIST AND WORK COOPERATIVELY WITH THE COMMUNITY RESOURCE VOLUNTEERS.

C.      WORK COOPERATIVELY WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE PROJECT AND STEP STAFF, PROMOTING A COOPERATIVE ATMOSPHERE FOR SUCCESSFUL PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION.

 

III. RESPONSABILITIES.

A.      SCHEDULE, ADVERTISE, AND DISTRIBUTE TRAINING MATERIALS AND PRESENT BASIC INFORMATION AND TOPICAL WORKSHOPS TO PARENTS AND PROFESSIONALS, WORKING WITH VOLUNTEERS.

B.      PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL TO PARENTS BY TELEPHONE. MAIL AND IN PERSON. PROVIDE INTENSIVE ONE –ON –ONE INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE TO PARENTS WHEN NEEDED.

C.      PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ADVANCED TRAINING FOR STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS.

D.      INDENTIFY USEFUL TRAINING MATERIALS AND ASSIST IN THE PRODUCTION AND REVISION OF TRAINING MATERIALS.

E.       RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DISTRIBUTING, COLLECTING, AND COMPILLING OF EVALUATION DATA.

F.       PARTICIPATE IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE CENTER’S QUEATERLY NEWSLETTER, STEP AHEAD

G.      PARTICIPATE IN INTER-OFFICE COMMUNICATION AND IN DATA COLLECTION.

H.      PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING STAFF ON ISSUES OF OUTREACH EFFORTS TO MINORITY AND UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS.

I.        PARTICIPATE IN THE PLANNING, PREPARATION, AND PRODUCTION OF ANNUAL CONFERENCE

J.        NETWORK WITH COMMUNITY PPROGRAMS AND AGENCIES.

K.      MAKE USE OF STATE AND NATIONAL CLEARINGHOUSES.
