1.) Position:             Director of Development                          

 

BACKGROUND:

The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is a statewide, immigrant and refugee-led collaboration whose mission is to empower immigrants and refugees throughout Tennessee to develop a unified voice, defend their rights, and create an atmosphere in which they are viewed as positive contributors to the state.  

 

Position Summary:

TIRRC is seeking a Director of Development to manage its current grants and coordinate efforts to diversify the organization's funding base. The Director of Development will be responsible for writing proposals, preparing reports to grantors, developing the membership, and identifying new sources of funding, particularly among individual and corporate donors. In addition, he/she will work with the Events Specialist to plan fundraising events, with the Operations Director to provide budgets and financial reports to grantors, and with the State Director and Board to develop an annual fundraising strategy and long-term fundraising plan. This position will be based in Nashville and will require occasional evening and weekend hours. Immigrants and refugees are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

*   Bachelor's degree

*   Minimum one year of fundraising experience

*   Excellent writing and communication skills

*   Demonstrated fundraising and grantwriting success

*   Ability to prioritize, meet internal and external deadlines, and work under minimal supervision

*   Strong commitment to TIRRC's mission and goals

*   Experience coordinating events, especially fundraisers

§*   Familiarity with desktop publishing and graphics software

*   Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities 

*   Understanding of the issues and policies that affect immigrant rights

 

COMPENSATION:   Salary- negotiable, plus health benefits

2.) Position:               Public Awareness Coordinator
TYPE:                           Full-time with benefits; salary depends on experience

 

Position Summary:

TIRRC is seeking a Public Awareness Coordinator to counter the anti-immigrant movement in Tennessee, and to increase public awareness of the positive contributions that immigrants and refugees make to the state. The person filling this position should have strong organizing skills and experience; a capacity to work with a variety of civic, community, religious, business, farm, labor, immigrant rights, and racial-ethnic organizations; good media relations skills; and a fundamental commitment to building coalitions.  

 

The position will encompass a broad range of research, education, training, and organizing responsibilities and opportunities, in cooperation with the aforementioned constituencies. 

 

Job Description:

*	Compile and provide regular information and analysis about the activities of the anti-immigrant movement in Tennessee, and publish a monthly electronic report about that activity. 
*	Compile information on the socioeconomic impact of immigrants in Tennessee, as well as pertinent demographic data. 
*	Develop strong relationships with strategic allies, representatives of Tennessee's civic, community, religious, business, farm, labor, immigrant rights, and racial-ethnic organizations. 
*	Work with TIRRC regional organizers to develop and train regional speakers bureaus to address anti-immigrant activity in communities throughout the state. 
*	Organize and hold briefings and trainings on the anti-immigrant movement. 
*	Interact with local, state, and national media to convey information about the anti-immigrant movement in the state. 
*	Provide written reports, as requested, including interpretive materials, news articles and updates. 
*	Participate in supervisory and staff meetings as required, and in the annual staff performance evaluation process. 
*	Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

*	Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, and with civic, community, religious, farm, business, labor, immigrant rights, and racial-ethnic organizations; community, political, or coalition organizing experience a must. 
*	Ability to work independently and to plan, coordinate and carry out strategies and specific tasks and logistics related to a public awareness campaign; ability to handle many tasks simultaneously. 
*	Media relations experience strongly preferred. 
*	Demonstrated oral, written, and computer literacy skills. Fluency in English required. Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is preferred, but not required.  
*	A vehicle and valid driving document is required. 
*	Ability to prioritize and work under minimal supervision
