Baruch College -- New York Library: Assistant Professor (Cataloging and Metadata Specialization), Baruch College, The City University of New York, Newman Library. Teach undergraduate courses in information studies. Establish, revise, and implement cataloging policies for metadata, and maintain documentation on best practices for cataloging and authority control of digital collections applying metadata schemas. Work with IT staff to create and improve administrative and user interfaces to digital collections. Provide information services, collection development and outreach services to faculty. Identify and monitor information needs for an assigned subject area. Conduct research in information science. Requires Master's in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution and an additional master's degree or Ph.D. Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track appointment, including research, publishing, and involvement in professional organizations. Working knowledge of LC Subject Headings, LC Classification Schedules, and AACR2R. Basic command of cataloging electronic resources and experience with using metadata schemas, such as Dublin Core, XML, and OAIS. 2 years of professional experience in an academic library.
