You'll find a special subscription offer at http://chronicle.com/4free/?ej _________________________________________________________________ - The text of the job listing is below - Access Services Librarian and Information Literacy Instructor -- Frostburg State University -- Maryland ACCESS SERVICES LIBRARIAN/INFORMATION LITERACY INSTRUCTOR Frostburg State University seeks a motivated, energetic and service-oriented individual to serve as Access Services Librarian/Information Literacy Instructor. Available January 1, 2007, this is a full-time (12-month) permanent status-track faculty position with a rank of Librarian I. Position includes USM benefits package. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides leadership and coordinates all operational aspects of the Lewis J. Ort Library's Circulation, Reserve, and Interlibrary Loan Departments; including planning, coordinating, developing, interpreting, and implementing Library-wide policies and procedures pertaining to circulation, reserves and interlibrary loan services. Supervises four full-time staff, one part-time staff and approximately 2 FTE student employees. Provides front-line assistance at the Circulation/Reserve Desk and ensures quality customer service. Serves as FSU's contact for mediating access services issues arising both locally and within the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) Consortium of Libraries, comprised of 16 institutions. Oversees the maintenance of the Library's circulating collection including stacks management and participates in collection development. Responsible for securing and monitoring the use of the Library building and its resources, as well as collecting and evaluating assessment data. Serves as a member of the Library's Technology Division and has a leadership role in policy development and in making operational recommendations to the Assoc. Dir. for Library Technology. Represents the Library on relevant committees. Participates quarter-time as an instructor in the Library's information literacy program. Also participates in professional development activities with expectation of promotion in rank and obtaining permanent status. Serves as a liaison to academic departments in the selection of materials for the Library. Contributes to the development of the Library's web pages for circulation, reserve and interlibrary loan/document delivery services. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree from an ALA accredited program and an understanding of the basic tenets of librarianship, as well as demonstrated potential for professional growth. Excellent customer service skills, the ability to interact positively and collaboratively with colleagues, faculty and students; and superior oral and written communications skills. Applicants should include evidence of academic accomplishments and a commitment to ongoing development. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to minimum requirements, experience in circulation, reserves and/or interlibrary loan operations in an academic library. Demonstrated ability to manage personnel and professional projects. A commitment to providing highly responsive public service. Experience with automated circulation and integrated library systems (preferably Ex Libris'). Knowledge of and experience assisting users in accessing information and utilizing electronic databases. Experience instructing in an electronic classroom environment.
