Head, Access Services; Head, Southeastern Architectural Archive; Latin
American Catalog Librarian; Reference Librarian/Bibliogra --  Tulane
University -- Louisiana


New Orleans, Louisiana
 Howard-Tilton Memorial Library - 6 Positions
 Tulane University seeks energetic, innovative, flexible, and
technologically capable librarians to fill six vacancies, most of which
pre-date Hurricane Katrina. Successful candidates will:
*  Join an ARL library that is steadily building its collections,
expanding services, and exploring new technologies.
*  Work for a top private AAU-level university at the forefront of New
Orleans' recovery.
*  Participate in the rebirth of a great and unique city famous for its
cuisine, music, and culture, and now for its spirit of renewal.

Services - Plans and manages circulation, interlibrary loan, government
documents, newspapers/ microforms, and building security.  The successful
candidate will have at least 3 years professional library experience, and
a demonstrated ability to supervise staff and interact effectively with
the public.
Head, Southeastern Architectural Archive - Oversees the acquisition,
processing, preservation, and accessibility of regional architectural
records; fosters close relationships with the architectural and
preservation communities; acts as the liaison between the library and the
School of Architecture. Manages daily operations of the Architecture
Library and supervises 3 FTE staff and student workers.
Latin American Catalog Librarian - Performs original and complex copy
cataloging of materials in all formats on subjects relating to Latin
America. Applicants should have an excellent reading knowledge of Spanish,
and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current cataloging rules,
standards, and tools. Entry-level candidates will be considered.
Reference Librarian/Bibliographer, Latin American Library - Develops
reference services and instructional programs; oversees the staffing and
coordination of the Latin American Library (LAL) reference desk; shares
collection development responsibilities with the LAL director; supervises
the conservation and bibliographic control of the rare books collection;
spearheads digital and microfilming initiatives; maintains the LAL Web
site.
Reference Services Librarian (Humanities) - Combines reference, outreach,
and library instruction with collection development and expertise with
print and digital resources in the humanities.  Experience in academic
library reference service and a degree or scholarship in a humanities
discipline is preferred. Entry-level candidates will be considered.
Reference Services Librarian (Instruction Coordinator) - Plans information
literacy initiatives; coordinates instruction programs with other
librarians; provides regular reference services. Requirements include some
experience in academic library reference and instruction, effective
teaching skills, and potential for leadership. Familiarity with current
library instruction practices is preferred. Entry-level candidates will be
considered.
Howard-Tilton Memorial Library is the main library on Tulane's uptown New
Orleans campus. Unique collections in areas such as jazz, Latin American
studies, and New Orleans history draw researchers from around the globe.
Although the library sustained some damage from Hurricane Katrina, we are
in an intensive rebuilding phase that presents many opportunities for
change.

Positions are twelve-month, academic status appointments requiring an
ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent. Salaries are commensurate with
