PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: * Provide reference services to CBC students, faculty, staff, and area health care professionals. * Develop and teach library research, library skills and other aspects of bibliographic instruction especially as it relates to the health sciences; * Assist in collection development of print and non-print materials; * Promote library services and information literacy; * Prepare bibliographies, library orientation materials, web sites, and other reference aids for library users; * Assist in organizing library services and materials; * Represent library at various college and community meetings and committees as time and funds permit. * Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a commitment to student success; * Demonstrate a commitment to the community college mission; * Demonstrate a commitment to shared governance; * Remain current in one's discipline; * Perform other pertinent duties and functions that may be assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Master's degree in Librarianship from an A.L.A. accredited college or university; * Experience as a professional reference librarian, preferably in a medical library; * Experience with current medical library information technology, including on-line searching, CD-ROM searching and the Internet; * Experience and competence in bibliographic instruction; * Experience and competence with Library of Congress subject headings and classification system; * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; and * Strong public service commitment and experience, especially with people of diverse educational, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience as reference librarian in medical library; * Experience with automated public access catalogs, circulation systems, and online health information resources * Proficiency with Microsoft Office including FrontPage; * Competency with Endeavor's Voyager automated library system; and * Community college library experience desirable.
