Business Librarian-MCOB Learning Resources Center
University of South Alabama

The University of South Alabama seeks an enthusiastic, knowledgeable,
and technologically-adept librarian to establish, manage, and promote
library resources and services for the new Learning Resources Center in
the Mitchell College of Business. This is an Assistant Librarian,
twelve-month, tenure accruing libraries faculty position that reports
directly to the Coordinator of Public Services in the University
Library.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
*       Provide reference desk coverage at the MCOB Learning Resources
Center.
*       Provide Course Reserve/Circulation functions as needed at MCOB
LRC.
*       Answer business related e-mail questions and provide individual
research assistance as needed or requested.
*       Provide instruction in the use of business related library
resources when requested.
*       Prepare and disseminate instructional aids and guides for
students and faculty of the college.
*       Select resources and order print and online materials that
support the curricular, research, and service needs of the MCOB in the
main library's collection.
*       Supervise and train staff and student assistants hired for the
MCOB LRC.
*       Provide feedback and suggestions to the Dean of the MCOB, Dean
of Library Services, Head of Reference, and other library department
faculty as requested to enhance MCOB library services and resources.
*       Stay abreast of the professional literature and technological
advances relative to the responsibilities of the position and act as
liaison with the library and MCOB faculty and administration.
*       Become involved in university and professional service and
development activities as appropriate.
*       Work evening and weekend hours on the main or Baldwin County
campus as necessary for instructional or other purposes.
*       Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*       ALA accredited Master's degree in Library Science.
*       Demonstrated knowledge of business reference sources, both print
and online.
*       Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
*       Experience performing similar academic business library
responsibilities.


LOCATION:
The $2.4 million, 10,000-square-foot Learning Resources Center will
house an innovative library, a computer lab, group study rooms, the John
B. Saint Financial Analysis Center and faculty offices for the
Department of Accounting. The Mitchell College of Business offers an
undergraduate degree program with majors in Accounting, Economics,
Finance, Management, and Marketing. At the graduate level, the MBA and
the Master of Accounting degrees are offered through an evening program.
