Acquisitions Librarian, University of Oregon

Duties: As part of the Collection Development and Acquisitions
Department, leads a busy unit responsible for acquisitions of library
materials, including firm orders, approvals, books in hand, and
subscriptions. Serves as the functional expert within the Library related
to all aspects of the acquisitions process. Collaborates daily with other
CDA units, with additional library staff, and with vendors and publishers
to provide optimal access to library materials. Participates in providing
budget estimates, establishing fund allocations, monitoring expenditures,
and using the Innopac/Millenium system. Supervises 4.0 FTE library
technicians and assists in planning, recommending, and implementing
changes to improve unit operations.
Qualifications: Required: ALA-accredited MLIS; experience with
acquisitions operations in an academic environment or similar large or
complex library setting; experience with integrated acquisitions library
system; familiarity with fund accounting and library budgeting practices;
experience working with vendors and content providers, including book
vendors, publishers, and library consortia; demonstrated knowledge of
library acquisitions business practices; excellent problem solving skills;
demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with staff
at all levels and with people of diverse backgrounds. Preferred:
supervisory experience; experience with Innopac, especially Millennium
modules; familiarity with cataloging principles and procedures; knowledge
of collection development principles.
Salary: $35,000 minimum, depending on qualifications and experience.
