Membership Cultivation Workshop
April 14, 2005, 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Radisson Hotel Downtown Knoxville 
This all-day workshop will engage member relations/development professionals in techniques to 1) better target potential members, 2) retain and upgrade those members to donors, and 3) integrate evaluation into your program. 

Cost: The fee for the Membership Cultivation Workshop is $125. In addition to the workshop, your full-day registration includes 2 coffee/snack breaks, free parking, and the opening general session of the AZA Eastern Regional Workshop from 8:30-10 a.m.  The Membership Cultivation Workshop is in conjunction with the American Zoo and Aquarium Association's Eastern Regional Workshop hosted by Knoxville Zoo April 13-16.

Part I: How to better target members
Drs. Lisa Fall and Margaret Morrison of the University of Tennessee School of Advertising and Public Relations will educate you on how you can better target prospective new members by means of hybrid market segmentation strategies (e.g., psychographic and lifestyle profiling in tandem with demographic profiling).

Part II: Converting Members to Donors, A "Moving" Experience

Treacy Higgins, Director of Development, Elmwood Park Zoo, will engage you in the fundamentals of cultivating members using a "Moves Management" approach to retaining and upgrading memberships into Donors, Volunteers, Trustees, and Major Donors.

 

Part III: Setting Measurable Objectives
Gary McCormick, APR, Director of Public Relations, DIY Network
Rebecca Bryant, Owner, The Research Group
This session will introduce you to integrating evaluation measures into the planning process and defining objectives that the company management understands and supports, as well as to some of the types of evaluation that are being used successfully by public relations professionals. Learn how to talk about the return on investment of the public relations function in ways that resonate within business and demonstrate results that meet objectives.
