Scripps Networks, a division of The E.W. Scripps Company and the parent
company of television brands Home & Garden Television, Food Network, DIY
Network, FINE LIVING , Shop At Home,  and Great American Country (GAC) is
looking for an energetic, detail-oriented public-relations intern in our
communications department at the company headquarters in Knoxville, Tenn.

Corporate communications interns at Scripps Networks get multi-faceted,
hands-on experience in a variety of PR disciplines including consumer and
trade media relations, special-event planning, employee relations, public
affairs, and presentation services.  While interns will probably have the
opportunity to work on all the Scripps Networks brands, their work primarily
will be focused on Scripps Networks business units, as well as music network
Great American Country, lifestyle network FINE LIVING, and electronic
retailer Shop At Home.

Successful candidates for this internship are very goal oriented, work well
in a team environment, and must have a desire to invest in their experience
with us to reach personal and professional goals.

In addition, the successful intern candidate  will:
*       Demonstrate strong writing/editing skills (AP-style proficient);
*       Possess established organizational skills and time-management
capabilities in order to manage multiple deadlines;
*       Articulate their personal goals for the internship as a tool for
mentoring and guidance;
*       Maintain a regular schedule of office hours at least three days per
week at a minimum of 15 hours;
*       Be an active member of PRSSA, PR Concepts or similar student
pre-professional organization;
*       Submit to a pre-employment writing test;
*       Submit to a pre-employment drug screening;
*       Provide evidence the internship is for credit (no exceptions)

Although this internship is a non-paid position, it is structured so that
our student interns complete their tenure with many valuable professional
experiences to explore and prepare for a career in public relations.
