Support to the U.S. Department of Energy's "Oak Ridge Site-Specific Advisory Board" (75%) * Serve as a point of contact and information resource for board members and the board's DOE Federal Coordinator. * Serve as primary support person for monthly meetings of the full board, including Federal Register notice, media announcements, agenda, meeting notebooks, follow-up, and records. * Maintain recorded public information call-in line. * Serve as primary support person for monthly meetings of one or more board committees. * Serve as primary support person for membership renewal process. * Contribute to written reports and newsletters. * Serve as point of contact for the DOE Information Center, and the BJC Document Management Center. * Maintain action-tracking log. 2. Project Communications (25%) * Attend all DOE monthly status review meetings. * Develop and maintain rapport with DOE-Environmental Management (EM) project managers. * Develop familiarity with project goals, schedules, and milestones. Track progress with DOE-EM project managers. * Identify significant events and accomplishments, and suggest good-news stories to management. * Draft good-news stories when appropriate and in an appropriate format (press releases, feature articles, etc.). * Maintain and keep current the good-news story tracking database. Job Related Qualifications: REQUIRED: * Bachelor's degree in communications or related field. * Minimum of five years employment in journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising, or related field. * Minimum of five years experience as a writer/editor for print, broadcast, or electronic media. * Superior communications skills and proven ability to work effectively with people. DESIRED: * Computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Aldus PageMaker. * Prior work experience in the environmental management field on behalf of a state or federal agency. * Familiarity with federal laws and requirements related to public participation in environmental decision-making. * No Security Clearance Required. * This position is a Full Time position.
