Hello!

I hope this message finds you in good health!

I am excited to share that the University of Connecticut is now accepting applications for the Director of the Student Union.  I am writing to ask that you consider applying yourself or sharing with colleagues in your professional network. The search is scheduled to close on July 30. I am happy to discuss this position with interested candidates as it reports directly to me.

Job Information

The Director of the UConn Student Union provides leadership and vision for a comprehensive, 220,000 square foot facility in the core of the Storrs campus. The multi-tenant student union facility includes meeting spaces, offices for the Department of Student Activities, Off-Campus & Commuter Students and ID Card, student organizations offices, cultural centers, campus radio and TV studios, a theater, a game room, quick service restaurants, and a food court.

The Director of the Student Union will ensure the Student Union is a welcoming space for all and the central programming venue for the University by providing an engaging and inviting environment that serves as the central gathering place for the UConn Community (over 28,000 annual reservations and 5,000 daily visitors).

The Division of Student Affairs and the Student Union staff are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion; competence in working with culturally and ethnically diverse populations; and awareness of how issues of difference, power, and privilege manifest in higher education environments.  The ideal candidate promotes equity and inclusion by demonstrating and supporting an understanding, sensitivity, and appreciation for social justice, cultural humility, and inclusiveness.
