Are you committed to nurturing the next generation of student affairs professionals? If so, we invite you to be a presenter and small group facilitator at the 2019 NASPA Undergraduate Student Conference March 9-10, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA! The NASPA Undergraduate Student Conference is designed for students exploring higher education/student affairs as a viable career path, as well as students committed to attending graduate school or pursuing a full-time career in higher education/student affairs before pursuing graduate studies. The pre-conference allows students to explore student affairs work as well as understand the process of applying to and succeeding in graduate school. The USC also provides opportunities to engage and network with peers and a wide array of student affairs professionals. This is a fabulous opportunity for folks at all levels of their Higher Ed journey, including but not limited to current graduate students (Masters and Doctoral) as well as faculty. Similar to the NASPA Annual Conference, the pre-conference is grounded in the fundamental stages of the NASPA/ACPA Competencies (with heavy emphasis on Social Justice and Inclusion; Leadership; Personal and Ethical Foundations; and Values, Philosophy, and History) with the ultimate goal of participants being able to answer these basic questions: * What is the profession of student affairs/higher education? * How can I best prepare to enter the profession? * What knowledge, skills, and abilities do I need to succeed in the profession? * What does professional success in student affairs/higher education look like to me? We invite presenters to submit educational session proposals that are engaging, creative, and provocative to engage the next generation of student affairs leaders. Options include 50-minute concurrent sessions, 50-minute panel discussions, open forums/town halls, affinity groups, and 15-minute SA Speaks sessions We ask presenters to consider what topics and ideas they wish they had heard as students in this critical stage, as well as brainstorm sessions that push the envelope on the historic understanding of student affairs work. To learn more about the 2019 NASPA Undergraduate Conference and to submit a proposal for an educational session, please visit our website: https://conference.naspa.org/program/sessions/undergraduate-student-pre-conference.
