The Office of First-Year Studies at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is pleased to announce the new position of Assistant Director for FYS 101 and Peer Mentors. We invite all qualified individuals to apply. The Office of First-Year Studies coordinates academic support programs for first-year (freshmen) and transfer students during their first-year of transition to the University of Tennessee.

The Assistant Director will join a team of professional, graduate, and undergraduate staff dedicated to ensuring a successful transition for all students to the University of Tennessee. She/he/they will be responsible for the curriculum and pedagogy of First-Year Studies (FYS) 101 seminar and Peer Mentor program. She/he/they will recruit, select, train, and assess all FYS 101 instructors.  She/he/they will also oversee the development of the peer mentor program to serve all students as they transition through their first year at UT. She/he/they will regularly seek out new programmatic elements to aid in the success and retention of both first-year students through collaborative work with university partners.

Required Qualifications
* Earned Master's degree
* 3-years of experience in a higher education setting in a student-centered office
* Background or experience in student development
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate and motivate diverse campus constituencies

Desired Qualifications
* Experience in first-year and/or transfer programs
* Assessment experience
* Curriculum development/Pedagogy experience
* Active participation in professional organizations
