All:
The American Water Resources Association (AWRA) is hosting a specialty conference on Agricultural Hydrology and Water Quality (http://www.awra.org/meetings/Spring2013/), which will be held in St. Louis, Missouri on March 25-27, 2013. The inaugural conference on this topic was held in Kansas City, Missouri in 2003.
The AWRA is currently inviting members of the agricultural research community to submit ideas for special sessions to be included in the meeting program (for more details, visit http://www.awra.org/meetings/Spring2013/special-session-call.html ). Please consider submitting a special session proposal on a topic that isrelevant to agricultural hydrology and water quality. Topics are due June 18th.
The NC1186 Executive committee thought this could be a good venue to include issues ornamental producers are facing and current challenges in the research community and industry. Each session allows time for 4 speakers and / or panel. Tom Fernandez has suggested we present within one of 4 topics: 1. using a limited quality source (recycledand/or reclaimed), 2. practices to reduce impact (lower runoff, lower contaminants in runoff, etc), 3. recapturing and remediating runoff, 4. release of runoff into environment (type of contaminants, effects of contaminants, possible change in contaminant profile from using reclaimed water). Please respond ASAP if you believe this is good venue for our work, the topic you would like to see discussed and if you would be willing to attend this conference. Also, please suggest potential speaker / panel members. I look forward to your thoughts and comments. Thank you for your time and assistance.
Sincerely,
Jim Owen
