Several folks asked Alesa, in making reservations for this month's luncheon,
why the price had increased. No money-grubbing intent on the board's part
(and it's not because I'm unemployed and need some cash -:), but our costs
have risen significantly from both Club LeConte and Bearden Banquet Hall.
The meals each cost the chapter around $17 when tax and tip are added, so we
were losing money, lots of it, on each meeting. So the board voted at our
last meeting to raise the price to cover the actual cost of the meal. We try
to keep prices low to keep you coming, and we try to offer a decent meal
(including, always, dessert); would appreciate any suggestions on other
locations, caterers, and the like to keep prices down. When we checked with
area hotels, we couldn't get by any cheaper than aboutn $20 for lunch (if
it's any comfort, I'm paying $30 for lunch in Nashville!).
