As many of you may have already seen, PRSA Headquarters sent a letter
this week to the national membership regarding the need for a dues
increase of $50, to be phased in over a three-year period for existing
members (note: current national dues are $175):
$25 addition in 2000 -- $200
$15 addition in 2001 -- $215
$10 addition in 2002 -- $225
All new members joining January 1, 2000, or later will pay $225.
As a Volunteer Chapter member, what do you think about this increase?
Taking into account local Volunteer Chapter dues of $30 that are in
addition to national-level dues, will this increase affect your own
ability or willingness to continue as a member of PRSA? How do you think
it would influence your coworkers' or other colleagues' decision to join
PRSA?
There is a rather spirited discussion taking place on the PRSA national
leader listserve, and I'd like for the Volunteer Chapter to register its
initial thoughts on the issue.
Please respond to me no later than Monday, May 10, if you'd like to voice
your opinion. I will convey our members' feedback to national.
Thanks,
Mary Beth West
