Subject: Re: Proposed National Dues Increase
I think the dues increase could hurt PRSA membership in the long run. I
suppose that some corporations pay dues for their employees, but for many
of us the money comes out of our own pockets. I belong to several
professional organizations, and PRSA is the most expensive by far. The
question becomes, what do we get for the money that is worth $225? Some
cities have dropped affiliation with PRSA and formed localized groups that
serve the same purpose as the Volunteer Chapter of PRSA. I am not
advocating this, but I think PRSA may be faced with this happening,
especially among practitioners in non-profit and public organizations. It
is a consequence they need to address.
