The Volunteer Chapter is exploring the possibility of accepting credit card
payments for meetings and professional development sessions. Several of you
have inquired about this, especially our government-affiliated members. Before
investing in the equipment, we would like some idea of how many of you would
use this payment method, with a $2 per meeting/event charge tacked on to cover
the cost of the processing and equipment. (Meetings would be $17 rather than
$15 for only those members who use the credit card option; $22 rather than $20
for non-members who use a card.) Please e-mail responses to sbarnes @usit.net
and let us know if you would use this service.
And many thanks to the more than 50 people who attended the Information
Mapping with Robin Schell professional development event yesterday. It was a
great success, and we hope to offer another professional development session
in the fall. We talked yesterday with PRSSA about a joint session on a
Saturday (non-football, of course) on media pitching (national and
international) and media training with some folks from Dye, VanMol and
Lawrence in Nashville. Stay tuned. And special thanks to those who helped with
yesterday's event--Karen Bridgeman, who produced the flyer; Alesa Rottersman,
who staffed the registration desk; Mary Beth West, who handled reservations;
Don Lindsey of AAA, which kindly donated accommodations for the speaker at the
Radisson; and Susan Lauver and others at TVA, who helped with Robin's airfare.
Great job, guys.
