A huge Volunteer chapter welcome to two new members: Tom Looney with
University Relations at the University of Tennessee, and Melissa Thomas,
marketing director at the Tri-Cities Airport in Blountville (hometown of the
world famous John Barnes, who used to ride his bike on the runways at said
airport. Bright guy). Make these good folks welcome at the next meeting. Tom
used to masquerade as the "Davy Crockett" Volunteer at UT football games
during his collegiate days.
And also many thanks to another new member, Chuck Denney, public information
officer for the Knox County Sheriff's Department, who shared his many
interesting experiences with the UT PRSSA Chapter at their meeting last
week. The students asked good questions, and we had a great time as the only
elders present. Chuck pointed out that he is now officially twice the age of
most UT freshmen. And I'm not getting into that fray.
And finally, I have a new office phone number: 423-671-5831, at JBF
Associates on Technology Drive (just off Pellissippi Parkway). I've taken a
position there as communications specialist, doing community relations for
the EPA community right-to-know program. Great work, and I'm having a really
good time working with chapter member Dave Hastings. But keep sending e-mail
to this address.
