TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION CONFERENCE
FEATURES WORLD-CLASS SPEAKERS
Technical communicators from across the nation will gather in Knoxville
Oct. 16 and 17 at the Knoxville Hilton for the 22nd annual Practical
Conference on Communication (PCOC) sponsored by the East Tennessee Chapter
of the Society for Technical Communication.
Pronounced "Peacock," the conference features sessions on writing
and editing, on-line communication, graphic design, technical photography,
career networking and project management. The conference emphasizes
practical knowledge, and sessions will be appropriate for professional
technical editors, writers, and web designers as well as scientific staff
who publish as a part of their jobs.
Keynote speaker for the opening session is Linda Oestreich, manager of
corporate communications at GX Technology in Houston, Texas. In addition,
she teaches and trains adults in business and technical writing through the
Continuing Education Department of the University of Houston. She has also
served as assistant to the president for external relations at the university.
