The program committee (Candace White of UT and I) met yesterday to talk
about the program for the Sept. 25 PR Day/25th Anniversary Celebration for
the Volunteer Chapter. We would like your ideas on what would interest you
for the breakout sessions we'll have in the morning. They'll run
concurrently for about 45 minutes; since we hope many PR students will
attend, we've tentatively scheduled a "Getting your first job" session for
one room but would like ideas for the other two. After the breakouts, we'll
all convene for a panel (almost typed penal--how Freudian!) discussion about
the role and value of PR to the management function. Then we'll have a
luncheon with, we hope, a well-known speaker we can't announce yet. That
afternoon will be devoted to a professional development session (2-1/2
hours) with Pat Jackson. If you have suggestions on what you would like to
hear Pat talk about, you can let us know that too. Those of you who have
heard him at convention know he is pure dynamite. So let us know what you're
interested in hearing about, both from Pat and in the breakouts. We'll keep
you posted throughout the summer, but block off this whole day. You won't
want to miss it, and we plan to keep cost reasonable. The day will end with
a reception in conjunction with the UT Board of Visitors and faculty.
