For all you news junkies out there, and you know who you are, you may be
interested in attending the WATTEC opening luncheon Monday, Feb. 16, at the
Hyatt. Speaker will be John Holliman, science reporter for CNN, who has
covered NASA for several years, including the Mars mission and Space Station
Mir (he's petitioned to become the first American journalist in space,
although many of us think most journalists are already there). John also was
in Baghdad the night the bombing started in 1991--you may remember him
broadcasting from under a coffee table with Bernard Shaw--and has just
finished a Pentagon tour where the media was briefed on the new tricks we
have up our sleeve for Sadam this time. Should have some really interesting
stuff for us.
Cost for the luncheon is $12; reservations can be made through the UT
Conference Center, 974-0280, but my suggestion is to eat somewhere else,
then come about 12:45 just for the speech. You can drag in a chair if there
isn't an empty one in the banquet room, but there should be. Any
questions--give me an e-mail.
