Hello everyone,
I want to let you know that tomorrow, Monday, April 24, we will have another Statistics and Data Science seminar. This time Kelechi Akwataghibe, UTK Math, will be speaking about NMR data analysis. The title and abstract are listed bellow.
The seminar is scheduled for 10:20am in Ayres G013.
Best,

Title: A Bayesian non-parametric model for NMR spectra
Abstract: Characterizing specific peaks in NMR spectra is a critical but challenging step in investigating complex biomolecular systems. Challenges arise because peak identification usually occurs before characterization, and it is difficult to identify peaks due to noise and overlap with nearby peaks. Therefore, experts' opinion are often relied upon to identify peaks and conduct parameter fitting. In this talk, I will explain how we can use Bayesian nonparametric statistics to solve the model selection problem and develop a comprehensive mathematical framework for automatic peak identification and characterization in raw NMR spectra.
