Subject: Release 1.3.0.2 of librsb, Sparse BLAS Software Library

Version 1.3.0.2 of the "librsb" library for high performance sparse
matrix computations based on the "Recursive Sparse Blocks" (RSB)
format is out and available for download.

librsb is mainly for iterative methods implementors; it features cache
efficient, multithreaded sparse matrix-vector multiplication, and it
is especially fast in the symmetric and transposed variants. Many
options and further matrix operations are available.

Both Sparse BLAS and the own interfaces are supported (C/C++,
Fortran). You can also use librsb transparently in a Matlab-style
fashion via the GNU Octave `sparsersb` package and command, or in
Python via the `pyrsb.rsb_matrix` class inspired by `scipy.sparse`
classes.

This minor release has fixes for various compilers, Windows, or 32-bit
builds.

Full changes list on http://librsb.sourceforge.net/NEWS.TXT

The source code of librsb is LGPLv3 licensed.

Subject: Second Release of Tensorlab+

It is our pleasure to announce the second release of Tensorlab+.

Tensorlab+ is a reproducible research repository for tensor
computations, built on top of Tensorlab. It can be downloaded from
https://www.tensorlabplus.net. The second release provides support for
10 additional papers. The new code can be downloaded per paper or,
alternatively, can be obtained by downloading the full repository.

In total, Tensorlab+ now allows one to recreate the results of 220+
experiments that are discussed in 44 papers, thus allowing the
reproduction of 250+ figures and tables, and it includes 42 tutorials
and demos.

The code is free to use for non-commercial research. We hope that you
will find it useful and welcome all suggestions and feedback.

The OpenFOAM Workshop is the longest running conference on CFD with
OpenFOAM (www.openfoam.org). Since 2006, the Workshop is scheduled
each year. Past workshops have been held at locations around the world
and have been attended by OpenFOAM users and developers from all
continents. The central part of the Workshop is the multi-day
conference, where presentations and posters on industrial applications
and academic research are shown. In addition, one full day is reserved
for training sessions, where experienced OpenFOAM instructors give
hands-on tutorials for all levels of experience with OpenFOAM. A
community day offers the possibility to meet people with similar areas
of interest in "birds- of-a-feather" sessions and work-group
meetings. The OpenFOAM Workshop thus provides a unique opportunity to
connect and share experience with other OpenFOAM users.

The 18th OpenFOAM workshop will be held in Genoa, Italy, from 11 to 14
July 2023, at the Polytechnic School of the University of
Genoa, organized by the Department of Civil, Chemical and Environmental
Engineering (DICCA), with the collaboration of Wolf Dynamics. The
workshop is organized as a hybrid event, online and in-person
participation is possible. But we hope to meet you personally in
Genoa, where we are going to offer you a unique experience being
immersed in the largest historical center in Europe, one step away
from the Ligurian Riviera.

A full-time postdoctoral research fellowship is available in the area
of PDE-Constrained Optimization Problems at the University of the
Witwatersrand, South Africa. The fellowship will enable an outstanding
doctoral graduate to obtain additional experience in research and
innovation. We are specifically looking for an applicant that is
working in PDEs, preferably with a specialization in PDE-Constrained
Optimization Problems. Depending on the candidate's productivity, the
fellowship may be renewed for a few additional years beyond its
initial one-year term.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Must have graduated within the last five years
with a PhD degree in Mathematics with a specialization in PDEs,
preferably specialized in PDE-Constrained Optimization Problems. Must
have a proven track record in research with at least two papers
(published or accepted) and preferable already some international
network. Successful applicants must be able to relocate to the
University of the Witwatersrand for the duration of the fellowship.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL BE REQUIRED TO: Demonstrate relevant
experience, understanding and knowledge of PDEs and Optimization.
Conduct innovative research in in PDE-Constrained Optimization
Problems. Maintain publishing in high quality journals and present
work at national and international conferences. Contribute to the
research productivity of the school and assist in research endeavours
of it, including the organization of workshops and supervision of
postgraduate students.

COMMENCEMENT OF FELLOWSHIP: As soon as possible.

APPLICATION: Please email the following documents to Prof S.A.
Mohammadi by email: [log in to unmask]: Full CV including a
list of research publications; Full transcript of recent academic
records and copy of doctoral degree certificate and any other relevant
certificate; Copy of ID document (or copy of passport in the case of
foreign applicants).

Subject: PhD Positions, NA, TUM & Tubingen, Germany

The numerical analysis groups at the University of Tubingen and the
Technical University of Munich (TUM) welcome applications for two PhD
positions (75%, German salary level E13, duration up to four years),
one at each institution but with strong interaction between the two
sites intended.

The DFG funded positions will be co-supervised by Prof. Caroline
Lasser in Munich and Prof. Christian Lubich in Tubingen and are part
of the newly created Collaborative Research Center "Mathematics of
Many Body Quantum Systems and Their Collective Phenomena" between the
LMU and TUM in Munich, and the University of Tubingen.

The research project will focus on numerical methods for quantum many-
body systems, specifically on time integration with gaussian and
tensor- based methods. The PhD students will learn the existing
extensions of the time-dependent variational principle, transfer them
to gaussian and tensor- based approximations, analyse the new methods
and apply them to concrete quantum dynamical systems of interest. This
is a mathematical project: the numerical methods are the object of
research and not just a given tool to be used in applications.

For further details, our requirements and information on the
application procedure, please see:
https://www.mathjobs.org/jobs/list/21837.

Review of applications will begin on January 31, 2023. Applications
received after this date will still be considered if the position is
not yet filled.

Special Issue on Global Optimization

Global optimization problems arise in a number of practical and
theoretical fields, where the multimodal nature of nonlinear functions
is not negligible, and where we want to have a good quality solution,
if possible with guarantees that are to be achieved with acceptable
computational complexity. We invite submissions of manuscripts on the
theoretical and computational aspects of global optimization methods,
or on their significant application.

Submitted manuscripts should fit into the general scope of
Mathematical Programming and will be reviewed according to the
standards of the journal. Please submit your manuscript using the MP
style files with a maximum of 25 pages. See
https://www.springer.com/journal/10107/submission-guidelines for
submission guidelines, including LaTeX macro files.

The deadline for submission is 31 January 2023. We aim at completing a
first review of all submissions by the 31 March 2023.

Authors should submit their manuscripts via the Editorial Manager at
https://www.editorialmanager.com/mapr/ . When submitting, select
article type as "MPB - Special Issues Only", and after uploading your
manuscript, select "Global Optimization" as the "Section/Category".

Please direct questions about the special issue to the guest editors:
