The prestigious IMA Leslie Fox Prize is to be held in collaboration
with The Alan Turing Institute for the first time. The outstanding,
biennal prize was established in 1985 in honour of distinguished
mathematician and researcher Leslie Fox. The next prize (the
twenty-first) will take place during June 2023, aligning with the 29th
Biennial Numerical Analysis Conference in Strathclyde.

Entries for the twenty-first IMA Leslie Fox Prize for Numerical
Analysis should be submitted by 31st of January 2023 using the form on
the website (link below). Any person who is less than 31 years old on
1st of January 2023 and has not already won a first prize is eligible

Subject: Honoring Alan Edelman, 60th Birthday, USA, Jul 2023

We are happy to announce the conference Synergistic Interactions
between Theory and Computation: a Celebration of Alan Edelman's Work
and his 60th Birthday, to be held on July 27-29, 2023 at MIT, in
conjunction with JuliaCon 2023 (July 24-28). We'd like to invite you
to join us - if you are able, and please register at
https://math.mit.edu/events/ase60celebration/registration/.

In this conference, we are trying to cover the many areas of random
matrix theory, numerical linear algebra, and scientific computing that
have been enriched by Alan's contributions, which often bring into
sharp focus how a nice computational "trick" often offers a nice
theoretical insight, in reverse from the usual direction. The
confirmed speakers so far are Dan Spielman (Yale), Francoise Tisseur
(Manchester), Nick Trefethen (Oxford), Gil Strang (MIT), John Urschel
(Harvard), Alex Townsend (Cornell), Sherry Li (LBNL), Steven Johnson
(MIT), Jeremy Kepner (MIT Lincoln Lab), Raffaele Ferrari (MIT). Please
see https://math.mit.edu/events/ase60celebration/ for additional
details.

Please feel free to publicize this event to others who might want to
join the celebration.
